Access & Transport Strategy

The access study for Natural East Kent looks in depth at the existing access resource of the area and sets out ambitions to improve access to the natural environment for both visitors and local people.

High-quality access infrastructure and promotion is key to enabling people to explore Natural East Kent. There is already a good basic resource in the area, but targeted improvements will enable greater exploration and will support the development of sustainable tourism in the rural areas.

This wide-ranging study examines how cycling, walking, equestrianism and sustainable methods of travel can be developed to support green tourism and regeneration. It also sets out how the access resource can be best promoted and how visitors to the area can access the facilities they need, for example cycle hire.

The project includes a delivery plan which sets out the long-term actions needed to develop access in Natural East Kent.
